We are uncompromised in our commitment to the health and safety of our employees, subcontractors, customers, community, and general public. General Transport believes safety is the responsibility of all employees, from upper management to the individual worker.
We believe safety is best practiced by promoting safety with a positive attitude and giving continual training. General Transport is committed to setting a new standard for our industry and being one of the most rewarding places to work for the benefit of all of our employees.
From the moment we begin recruiting a driver, we start instilling our safety culture. Often times, our staff will end a phone call with a driver with “stay safe”. Sometimes a small reminder to make safe choices can make all the difference. We welcome all new drivers with a thorough orientation at the Akron, Ohio terminal.
If a driver is in need of help or assistance, we provide a contact 24/7. The safety department will often have dispatch route drivers into the terminal to have contact with the drivers. Further coaching’s, training, remedial training, or any other items needing to be address can be done one on one.
General Transport is equipped with electronic logging devices. This allows Safety to track and monitor drivers to ensure they are compliant for HOS and monitor their driving skills and techniques. By closely monitoring driving trends and CSA scores, it helps General Transport safety team coach and train drivers to decrease incidents and improve safety performance.
